When your child starts ABA therapy, you’ll probably hear a lot of new titles like BCBA or RBT and wonder what they all mean. At Let’s Play N Grow, we believe families are a core part of the team. That starts with understanding who’s supporting your child every day and how each person helps them grow, play, and thrive.
What Is a BCBA?
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a master’s-level clinician who leads your child’s therapy team. They’ve completed graduate coursework, thousands of supervised hours, and a national certification exam through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB®).
At Let’s Play N Grow, the BCBA acts as the planner and guide — creating your child’s individualized program, setting meaningful goals, and making sure therapy stays aligned with your child’s strengths and your family’s priorities.
Your BCBA at Let’s Play N Grow:
- Designs and oversees your child’s ABA program
- Writes goals that build communication, play, independence, and emotional regulation
- Trains and supports your therapy team
- Coaches caregivers so skills carry over at home and in the community
- Uses data and compassion to make ongoing adjustments as your child grows
Your BCBA sees the big picture — helping each piece of your child’s program work together to support lasting progress.
What Is an RBT?
A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a nationally credentialed therapist who works one-on-one with your child each day. RBTs bring the BCBA’s plan to life through hands-on, play-based learning and consistent support.
Your Let’s Play N Grow RBT:
- Practice goals written by the BCBA through play and daily routines
- Collects data in real time to track progress
- Uses creativity and positive reinforcement to keep learning fun
- Collaborates closely with the BCBA to adjust strategies as your child’s needs evolve
If your BCBA designs the plan, your RBT is the one helping those plans grow — guiding your child through practice, encouragement, and celebration.
How They Work Together
At Let’s Play N Grow, our BCBAs and RBTs work hand in hand every day.
- The RBT shares updates and observations after each session
- The BCBA reviews progress and provides live coaching during supervision
- Both roles partner with families to celebrate progress and set new goals
This teamwork is what makes therapy at Let’s Play N Grow feel so consistent and intentional. When everyone is connected and communicating, kids thrive.
Why It Matters
When families understand how BCBAs and RBTs collaborate, it’s easier to see the expertise and intention behind every session. Each moment of therapy is guided by science, informed by data, and delivered by a team that truly believes in your child’s potential.
